In collaboration with the Joukowsky Institute for Archaeology and the Ancient World, Brown University, the third archaeological research campaign at the site of the Roman olive oil production complex in Barbariga is being carried out from 11 to 29 May 2026.
As part of the research activities, our students are undertaking their mandatory field training and gaining valuable experience. In addition to the project team members, the research also involves Assistant Professor Candace M. Rice, PhD, co-director of the excavations (Brown University); Andrew McClean, PhD, postdoctoral researcher and co-director of the excavations (Barcelona Supercomputing Centre); Zachary William Silvia, PhD, postdoctoral researcher (Stanford University); Anna Eleanor Soifer, PhD; Katarina Šprem, PhD; as well as other archaeologists and students from the United States and the United Kingdom.
The preliminary results of the research have so far been disseminated at several international conferences in the United States, Spain, and Poland.
We look forward to new archaeological discoveries and research results.
