From April to December 2021, in cooperation with the electronic publication H-ALTER published by the Association for Independent Media Culture from Zagreb, Tijana Vukić, Ph.D. will publish 10 journalistic articles on the topic "Public dialogue about academic education of journalists". This is the first time that articles on the topic of higher education of journalists are published in the Croatian media in a systematic and planned way.
The feature article will be followed by interviews with one representative of key stakeholders directly related to the higher education system of journalists in the Republic of Croatia such as governmental, higher education professors who actively teach and are representatives of the management structure, employed journalists, students attending study programmes that educate journalists, publishers of scientific and professional books and journals, current/former leaders/organizers of additional professional training workshops for journalists, journalist associations, leaders of postgraduate study programmes in communication sciences and higher education professors (also) participating in the education of journalists in a foreign country (an international perspective).
It is an activity additionally associated with the international scientific institutional project "Higher Education of Journalists in a Digital Environment" aiming at encouraging the public debate and popularization of that significant contemporary, but neglected, educational topic, contribute to the system development, and public perception change of journalism education, qualification, and work.
The works will be published thanks to the grant awarded by the Agency for Electronic Media (AEM) within the Program of Contracting Journalistic Articles in Electronic Publications that encourage quality, research journalism on topics of public interest, including education, and whose this year's public invitation received 201 valid applications of which the Council for Electronic Media accepted 90. The signing of the contract is expected.
