The members of the Research Centre for the Linguistic and Cultural Heritage of Istria participated in the professional and scientific conference “The linguists of Pula and Istria and their students”, held on 12 May 2026 at the Faculty of Humanities of the “Juraj Dobrila” University of Pula. The conference was organized by the Pula Chair of the Čakavian Assembly and the Faculty of Humanities in Pula, and its programme was devoted to Croatian dialectology, accentology, etymology, and the study of Čakavian and Romance idioms in Istria.
The following members of the Centre took part in the programme: Prof. Dr. Lina Pliško, with a presentation on research into Čakavian idioms in Istria; Prof. Dr. Sandra Tamaro Pogorilić, with a paper on the relationship between dialect in contact and etymology; Prof. Dr. Barbara Buršić Giudici, with a presentation of the Linguistic Atlas of Istria and Kvarner; Prof. Dr. Suzana Todorović, with a presentation on the research impetus and academic legacy of Goran Filipi, one of the most important scholars of Istrian speech varieties and linguistic heritage; and Assistant Professor Dr. Valter Milovan, with a paper on dialectological research into Romance idioms in Istria and Romance elements in dialect dictionaries. Participation in this conference confirms the continued contribution of the Centre’s members to the study, preservation, and promotion of Istrian linguistic and cultural heritage.
