DESCRIPTION:

- a brief overview of the technological history of film: kinetoscope, cinematograph, division of labor (stages), silent film, sound film, star system, special effects, ...
- historical determinants of the film (overview of the most important events and accomplishments in the history of film)
- film means of expression (frame, plan, perspective, lenses, camera condition, lighting, sound, color, film punctuation, editing)
- film genres (subgenres): comedy, drama, thriller, crime, western, musical comedy, adventure, sci-fi, horror, historical spectacle, documentary genres, political film,...
- styles and cinematography: German expressionism, Soviet revolutionary film, French avant-garde, film noir, neorealism, post-war British film, new wave, Japanese film, Swedish film, Polish film, experimental film, ...
- literature and film
- a brief overview of the history of Croatian film
- viewing of selected films and analysis and interpretation
