Odsjek za anglistiku poziva zainteresirane studente i nastavnike na gostujuće predavanje u sklopu obveznog diplomskog kolegija Usvajanje stranog (engleskog) jezika nositeljice prof. dr. sc. Renate Šamo u utorak, 9. prosinca od 14.45 do 17.00 sati (učionica 232, prvi kat, Negrijeva 6). Pod naslovom Dyslexia and ADHD in foreign language learning – specific learning difficulties or differences? održat će ga doc. dr. sc. Agnieszka Kałdonek-Crnjaković s Odsjeka za primijenjenu lingvistiku pri Institutu za anglistiku Sveučilišta u Varšavi. Riječ je o problematici koja je u Hrvatskoj tek na ozbiljnijem znanstveno-istraživačkom početku, dok je drugdje zastupljena u radovima mnogih autora, od kojih su neki svjetski priznati. 

Sažetak predavanja:

In this talk, our colleague will discuss dyslexia and ADHD in the context of additional language
acquisition. Participants will learn about the most common features of these two
neurodevelopmental conditions, and how they can affect foreign language learning
processes in light of the orthographic features of different languages and socio-cultural
aspects. The presentation will lead to a discussion on whether dyslexia and ADHD
should be regarded as specific learning difficulties or rather differences.

O gostujućoj predavačici:

Agnieszka Kałdonek-Crnjaković, PhD (University of Zagreb), is an assistant professor
at the Institute of English Studies (Faculty of Modern Languages, University of
Warsaw), where she teaches courses related to her research interests, including teaching
languages to students with diverse cognitive profiles. She is the founder and coordinator
of the faculty research group Neurodiversity in Language Education. Before joining
academia in 2018, she worked as a foreign/second language teacher and special needs
teacher in Croatia, Poland, and the UK.
